For your convenience I have listed several key words you may encounter in Spanish.


Apoderado - Agent through a power of attorney
Avaluo - Property Appraisal report
Beneficiario - Trust Beneficiary (usually the Buyer)
Bienes Raices - Real Estate
Cesion - An assignment of rights and obligations
Corredor - Broker
Derechos - Rights
Ejecucion - Foreclosure
Escritura - Public Deed
Estudio Topografico - Land or plot survey
FIDEICOMISO - Trust Agreement
Fideicomisario - Trust Beneficiary
Fideicomitente - Trustor (usually the Seller)
Fiduciario - Trustee (Mexican National Bank)
Garantia - Guarantee
Gravamen - Lien
Honorarios - Fees for a paid service
Impuesto - Tax
Inscripción - Act of recorded entry in the Public Record
IVA - Value Added Tax
Medidas y Colindancias - Measurements used to describe the size, location and boundaries of a plot of land
Notario Público - Specially qualified and selected Attorneys that are exclusively able to record matters of Public Record in Mexico.
Perito - A licensed or specially certified expert in a given field
Poliza - A policy (such as an insurance policy)
Predial - Property Tax
Prima - Premium paid for insurance coverage
Registro Público - Public registry for land records
Zona Restringida - The "Restricted Zone"
